Vitamin B12 Spray

Both B12 sprays and B12 drops for children and adolescents are effective ways to absorb vitamin B12, but they differ in application and bioavailability. B12 drops are usually placed directly under the tongue, allowing the vitamin to be quickly absorbed into the bloodstream. B12 spray offers the same benefits, but is often more convenient to use because it is simply sprayed onto the oral mucosa. Both options are suitable for people who want to supplement with B12 but do not want to take tablets. Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference, as both forms are equally effective and offer good bioavailability.

Our child-friendly products are developed in close collaboration with nutrition experts. At present, there are no study results for vitamin B12 supplementation in children that provide a dosage recommendation. The German Nutrition Society (DGE), however, recommends a daily minimum amount of 2–4 µg. This recommendation does not take into account children with increased nutrient requirements—and it also does not account for the fact that the child’s body absorbs vitamin B12 only in limited amounts. What does this mean clearly and concretely for your child? Around 2 µg are actively absorbed per intake, while a small additional amount is passively absorbed in the intestine. With a daily recommendation of 2–4 µg, a higher dosage is necessary to ensure complete coverage. Our Vitamin B12 Energy Sprayer, with 25 µg per spray, supports this process and is specially suited to children following a vegan or vegetarian diet, because avoiding animal products means there is no source of vitamin B12. ...and what happens to the amount of vitamin B12 that the child’s body cannot use? There is no need to worry: the additional amount of vitamin B12 that exceeds your child’s daily requirement is simply excreted in the urine—because vitamin B12 is water-soluble. An overdose at this amount is virtually impossible. Scientific literature also contains no evidence that this dose, or even significantly higher amounts, would be harmful in the long term.

For increased needs or special requirements, the product may of course also be individually dosed.

One bottle contains an average of 170 sprays and therefore lasts around half a year when taken daily according to the recommended intake.
